Just got diagnosed with it last week when i was having a checkup at the cardiologists. Unreal every time i go to the doctors, they find something else wrong.
They put me on coumadin, a blood thinner so that i dont have a stroke or heart attack from a blood clot. Got to have my blood checked every week now, to make sure its between a certain reading.
Man this really sucks.
Was just wondering if anybody else here has this problem.

A sister has it, she's on the same drug.

I read recently that beta blockers for a certain age class of people can aggravate heart flutter. Search the Web for that info.

My grandfather has it. Is also on coumadin.

MAKE ABSOLUTE CERTAIN you have your blood tested on a regular basis, probably monthly at the minimum. Coumadin levels rise and fall quite easily depending on your diet, and you might need to have your prescription changed often. My granddad ended up having a small stroke because he wasn't checking his coumadin levels ... and three weeks later he had a serious bleeding issue because his coumadin swung the other way.

In the meantime, avoid foods high in vitamin K. That's the main culprit for swinging coumadin levels.

What symptoms did you have ?

hope it works out.

Scary part is i had no symptoms of having it. Cardiologist caught it on a 6 month exam.
Alot of people when they get it, their hearts are beating so fast they can actually tell something is wrong. I didnt get the fast heartbeat, so i didnt even know anything was wrong and if i didnt go in for the exam, the blood would probably keep pooling and who lnows how long before a clot broke off and i had a heart attack or stroke.
Hopefully in a month or 2 of being on the blood thinner, they can then shock my heart back into rythm. That will be a good thing, but from what i have been reading, alot of people get it again and it can become a chronic condition.
